Online physiotherapy consultation: Women’s Health

If you find yourself in the impossibility of going to a physio clinic or receiving home visit treatments, women’s health specialists can still see you and help you via online video physiotherapy sessions. With the same purposes and efficiency as clinical consultations, online physio sessions will bring you assessment, diagnosis and personalised treatment program to help you recover surely and safely, with the guidance and follow ups from your physiotherapist specialised in women’s health, pregnancy, postnatal, sexual dysfunction, menopause, Pilates or personal training.

What is an online physio consultation for women, pregnancy and postnatal?

An online physio consultation for women’s health, pregnancy or postnatal rehabilitation will not differ much from a normal session at the clinic. With the same methodical process, the physio will assess you visually and verbally, obtaining your history if you are a new patient and working out the underlying causes of your symptoms. If you have already been seen previously by our women’s health specialised physio for some sessions, you will be able to pick up from where you left things and work out the evolution of your treatment so far, and if there has been some change since then.

If you do not have any specific concerns (e.g. you are pregnant/post natal) and were just hoping for a check, some advice and guidance, this can all be done via video.

A visual diagnosis will be done and the physio will create a treatment plan to go along with your needs, which will include awareness, advice and exercises to start your rehabilitation or complete your current exercise regime, to make sure you have the appropriate treatment program.

When you are able to come to the clinic, the physio will be able to arrange a clinical session with you or guide you to the right specialist for hands on therapy, if this is suggested as being essential to your recovery.

What type of women’s health conditions can be treated via an online physiotherapy consultation?

Most of women’s health conditions you would usually like to be assessed and treated for by a women’s health physiotherapist can be treated via video call: issues such as neck and back pain, joint pain/sprains, pregnancy MOT, postnatal MOT, pelvic floor rehabilitation, or other women’s health issues including prolapse, incontinence, urinary urgency, pelvic pain, pain with intercourse, coccyx pain, pain during menopause).

What results can I expect from an online physiotherapy consultation for women’s health?

As per an usual clinical appointment, the physiotherapist will give a personalised treatment plan to meet each patient’s needs. Programs mainly include:

  • Awareness on the condition
  • Advice
  • Mobilisation
  • Stretching
  • Exercises

Your women’s health physio will check exercises and their progress by guiding you during the first appointments and with regular follow ups, by demonstrating you each exercises, replying to any of your questions and making sure you are doing each movement correctly. Even from afar and via phone or video call, your specialist will be able to follow the evolution of your treatment and be there if you have any doubts, encouraging you and ensuring you have an efficient and safe recovery program.
